Halforia Terms and Conditions.

These Terms and Conditions govern access to and use of the Halforia platform, website, and related services.

For the purposes of these Terms, “Halforia” or the “Organizer” means the initiative operating under the name Halforia.

By accessing the Halforia website, creating an account, or using any part of the platform or services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

1. About Halforia

1.1. Halforia is a platform intended to promote sport, wellbeing, healthy habits, and positive incentives through participation in running challenges and related activities.

1.2. Halforia is designed to track user progress across half marathons, allow users to submit and validate race results, provide a digital account area, and offer related information, communications, and, where applicable, rewards.

1.3. Halforia has a sporting, wellbeing, and community-building purpose and may in the future operate as a sports and wellbeing non-governmental organization based in Lisbon, Portugal.

1.4. Halforia is not the organizer, promoter, seller, operator, or ticketing provider of any race or event listed, referenced, or connected through the platform, unless explicitly stated otherwise.

2. Nature of the Services

2.1. Halforia provides a digital platform through which users may:

  • create and maintain a user account;

  • track progress within the Halforia journey;

  • submit race results for validation;

  • view approved and pending race entries;

  • receive information, updates, and rewards related to the Halforia series; and

  • access related content and features that may be introduced from time to time.

2.2. Halforia does not:

  • organize races;

  • sell race entries;

  • guarantee race participation;

  • guarantee race availability;

  • guarantee validation of any submitted race; or

  • guarantee that any specific race will remain part of the Halforia series.

2.3. Participation in any race is subject exclusively to the rules, availability, fees, conditions, and decisions of the relevant race organizer.

2.4. Any registration, booking, purchase, or participation in a race creates a direct relationship between the user and the relevant race organizer, not with Halforia.

3. Eligibility

3.1. The platform is intended only for individuals who are at least 18 years old.

3.2. By creating an account or using the platform, you confirm that:

  • you are at least 18 years old;

  • the information you provide is true, accurate, complete, and up to date; and

  • you are legally capable of entering into these Terms.

3.3. Halforia may refuse registration or suspend access where it reasonably believes these conditions are not met.

4. User Accounts

4.1. Some services are only available through a registered user account.

4.2. Each user may maintain only one account.

4.3. Accounts are personal and may not be transferred, shared, sold, rented, licensed, or otherwise made available to any third party.

4.4. Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of their login credentials and for all activity carried out through their account.

4.5. Halforia may suspend, restrict, or delete an account if:

  • the user breaches these Terms;

  • the user provides false or misleading information;

  • Halforia reasonably suspects fraud, misuse, duplication of accounts, or manipulation of results;

  • the account is used in a way that may harm Halforia, other users, race organizers, or third parties; or

  • Halforia decides, at its sole discretion, that suspension or deletion is necessary to protect the integrity of the platform or series.

4.6. Users may request deletion of their account by contacting Halforia through the contact details made available on the platform, subject to any legal or operational retention requirements.

5. Halforia Series and Progression

5.1. During the Founders Season, Halforia operates an open participation model, where users may submit and track official half marathons completed in Europe, subject to validation by Halforia.

5.2. At the current stage, the progression levels are:

  • Explorer: 3 validated races

  • Finisher: 6 validated races

  • Legend: 9 validated races

5.3. Halforia may introduce additional levels, milestones, features, rewards, benefits, rules, or classifications at any time.

5.4. Only races completed after the user joins Halforia may count toward the Halforia series, unless Halforia expressly states otherwise in the future.

5.5. Races may be submitted manually by users through the platform, subject to validation by Halforia.

5.6. Halforia reserves the right to modify the structure of the series, including transitioning from the Founders Season to an official curated race series. Such transition may include resetting user progression, introducing new rules, or redefining eligible races.

5.7. The official Halforia series, planned for launch in 2028, is expected to consist of a curated set of races, which may include races selected or influenced by community participation during the Founders Season.

6. Race Submission and Validation

6.1. Users may submit races they have completed through the platform, together with any information requested by Halforia, including race name, date, bib number, and other relevant data.

6.2. Validation of submitted races will normally be based on official results published by the relevant race organizer.

6.3. Halforia may, in particular cases, request additional proof or clarification from the user, including but not limited to:

  • bib number confirmation;

  • official result link;

  • screenshot or extract of official results;

  • registration confirmation; or

  • another document reasonably related to race verification.

6.4. Halforia is not required to validate any submission automatically or within any specific time period.

6.5. Halforia may reject, remove, delay, suspend, or reverse any submitted race where:

  • the result cannot be verified;

  • the submitted information is incomplete, inaccurate, inconsistent, or misleading;

  • the race does not meet Halforia’s criteria;

  • fraud or abuse is suspected; or

  • the validation would undermine the integrity of the series.

6.6. Halforia’s decision regarding the validation or rejection of a submitted race shall be final.

6.7. During the Founders Season, only official half marathons with publicly available results and taking place in Europe may be considered for validation.

7. Rewards and Medal

7.1. During the Founders Season, Halforia does not guarantee the availability of any physical rewards.

7.2. Rewards, including medals, apparel, or other items, are expected to be introduced in connection with the official Halforia series planned for launch in 2028.

7.3. Halforia may set additional operational rules for the issuance, collection, shipping, availability, format, timing, and conditions of any reward.

7.4. Rewards are subject to availability and may be modified, replaced, delayed, suspended, or discontinued by Halforia at any time.

7.5. Halforia does not guarantee that any reward will be available indefinitely or that it will remain unchanged in design, format, timing, or method of delivery.

7.6. Halforia reserves the right to define eligibility, conditions, and structure for rewards at the time of introduction, including requirements linked to progression achieved under the applicable series rules.

8. Platform Access and Availability

8.1. The platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

8.2. Halforia does not guarantee that:

  • the platform will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free;

  • the website or dashboard will always be available;

  • any feature will remain available;

  • any data will always be complete, current, or accurate; or

  • access will be possible at all times or from all locations.

8.3. Halforia may suspend, restrict, modify, remove, or discontinue any part of the platform or services at any time, with or without notice.

9. User Obligations and Prohibited Conduct

9.1. Users agree to use the platform lawfully, honestly, and in good faith.

9.2. Users must not:

  • create more than one account;

  • impersonate another person;

  • submit false or manipulated race information;

  • attempt to validate races not personally completed by them;

  • misuse, hack, interfere with, reverse engineer, or disrupt the platform;

  • upload or transmit malicious code or harmful content;

  • use the platform for unlawful, abusive, defamatory, discriminatory, or harmful purposes;

  • sell, transfer, or commercialize their account, profile, achievements, or platform access; or

  • use the platform in a way that harms Halforia, other users, race organizers, or third parties.

9.3. Breach of this section may result in rejection of submissions, suspension, account deletion, and removal from the Halforia series.

10. User Data, Public Achievements, and Profile Information

10.1. Halforia may collect and process information including:

  • name;

  • date of birth;

  • email address;

  • mobile phone number;

  • nationality;

  • race history;

  • performance data; and

  • other information reasonably necessary for operating the platform and series.

10.2. Halforia may use such data for purposes including:

  • account creation and management;

  • race validation;

  • series progression tracking;

  • communication with users;

  • reward administration;

  • platform operation and improvement;

  • community and wellbeing initiatives;

  • marketing communications, where permitted by law; and

  • public display of achievements, rankings, milestones, or similar features, where Halforia chooses to implement them.

10.3. Users acknowledge that Halforia may potentially display certain user achievements publicly, including name, nationality, race milestones, and similar accomplishment-related information.

10.4. Halforia should publish a separate Privacy Policy or Privacy Notice setting out in further detail how personal data is processed in accordance with applicable law, including the GDPR.

11. Marketing Communications

11.1. Halforia may send users service-related communications necessary for account administration, validation, series participation, rewards, and platform operation.

11.2. Halforia may also send newsletters, updates, promotional communications, or wellbeing-related communications where permitted by law and, where required, on the basis of user consent.

11.3. Users may opt out of marketing communications at any time using the unsubscribe option or by contacting Halforia.

12. Image Rights and Media Use

12.1. Users acknowledge that Halforia may use photographs, videos, and other media containing their image where:

  • the user voluntarily provides such content;

  • the user participates in Halforia-related promotional or community activities;

  • the user independently poses for photographs or recordings associated with Halforia; or

  • the image is captured as part of the general context of an event or community activity and used for lawful informational, promotional, or community-related purposes.

12.2. Such use may include publication in websites, newsletters, social media, promotional materials, reports, presentations, and similar channels connected with Halforia’s activities.

12.3. Where required by law, Halforia will obtain additional consent before using user images in a manner that requires express permission.

13. Third-Party Events, Websites, and Services

13.1. The platform may contain links to third-party websites, race organizers, registration systems, or other services.

13.2. Halforia is not responsible for:

  • the availability, accuracy, legality, or content of third-party websites;

  • race registration systems;

  • race organizer decisions;

  • third-party policies or practices; or

  • any transaction or relationship between the user and a third party.

13.3. Users access third-party services at their own risk and should review the applicable terms and policies of those third parties.

14. Disclaimer of Liability

14.1. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Halforia shall not be liable for:

  • race organization or race management;

  • injuries, illness, accidents, or death arising from training, travel, or participation in any race;

  • race cancellations, postponements, route changes, or organizer decisions;

  • failure to obtain race entry;

  • errors or omissions in official results published by race organizers;

  • platform unavailability or technical failure;

  • delays in validation or reward delivery;

  • third-party websites or services; or

  • indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses.

14.2. Users are solely responsible for assessing their own physical condition, medical fitness, and ability to train for and participate in races.

14.3. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

15. Termination, Suspension, and Discontinuation

15.1. Halforia may suspend or terminate a user’s account or access to the platform at any time where justified under these Terms.

15.2. Halforia reserves the right to terminate, suspend, discontinue, replace, or materially change the Halforia series, the platform, any progression system, or any reward, at any time and for any reason.

15.3. Users acknowledge and agree that Halforia may terminate the Halforia series without any obligation to provide compensation, reimbursement, or damages to existing or enrolled users, except where required by mandatory law.

15.4. Users acknowledge that participation during the Founders Season does not create a right to rewards, future benefits, or continued progression under future versions of the Halforia series.

16. Intellectual Property

16.1. The Halforia name, brand, platform, website content, logos, graphics, text, design elements, and related materials are the property of Halforia or its licensors, unless otherwise stated.

16.2. Users may not reproduce, distribute, modify, copy, commercially exploit, or otherwise use such materials without prior written authorization.

17. Changes to the Terms

17.1. Halforia may amend these Terms and Conditions unilaterally at any time.

17.2. Updated Terms will become effective upon publication on the Halforia website or platform, unless a different effective date is stated.

17.3. Continued use of the platform after updated Terms are published constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

18. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

18.1. These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Portugal.

18.2. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the use of the platform shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Portugal, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rules that may apply.

19. Founders Season

19.1. Halforia may operate an initial phase referred to as the “Founders Season”, during which users may participate under an open race model and contribute to shaping the future structure of the Halforia series.

19.2. The Founders Season is experimental in nature, and Halforia may modify, suspend, or evolve any aspect of the platform, progression, or structure at its discretion.

19.3. Participation in the Founders Season does not guarantee inclusion in future phases or entitlement to rewards, benefits, or recognition beyond what Halforia may choose to provide.
